Delicious tacos, presentation you crushed, a moment of inner peace. Write it down. Gratitude programs a mindset of abundance.

16. Lay out clothes for tomorrow

The best morning routine starts the night before.

People are the worst version of themselves when they re hungry.

18. Charge your phone outside of reach

The morning alarm will spring you out of bed.

And the day is on.

19. Practice 4-7-8 breathing

The breathing technique will help you alleviate stress and fall asleep fast.

Here's how to do 4-7-8 breathing:

  1. Breathe in through your nose for a 4-second count.
  2. Hold your breath for a 7-second count.
  3. Exhale for an 8-second count, making a "whoosh" sound through pursed lips
  4. Repeat up to four times, twice per day.

20. Give your mind an overnight task

Upon closing your eyes, give your mind a job.

"How might I make an extra $1k each month?"

Don't try to solve it then; just release it to your subconscious (which will work on it overnight).

Dashing through the Holidays with Healthy Holiday Baking

The holidays are full of family, friends and festive gatherings. Healthy eating during the holidays may seem challenging but it doesn’t always mean foregoing your favorite desserts and sweets. With a few small changes, it is possible to maintain healthy eating habits during the holiday season.

5 Ways to Make Holiday Baking Healthier!

Substitute Whole-Wheat Flour Most recipes that call for flour can substitute wheat flour in a 1 to 1 measurement. Wheat flour has more fiber and helps to slow digestion and increase fullness. Not all recipes can take a wheat flour substitute due to coloring or taste concerns. Sugar cookies, for example, need white flour to keep their traditional coloring.

Cut the Sugar Holiday desserts often call for sugar, honey, maple syrup, and molasses. These sweeteners can raise your blood sugar. For many recipes, you can reduce the amount of sugar recommended without changing the taste. Sugar substitutes can also be used as alternatives to sugar and provide sweetness to desserts and foods without adding a lot of extra calories. In some cases, a sugar substitute can replace half of the sugar called for in a recipe.

Cut the Saturated Fat Your body needs healthy fats for energy and other functions. But too much saturated fat can cause cholesterol to build up in your blood vessels. Saturated fats raise your LDL (bad) cholesterol. High LDL cholesterol increases your risk for heart disease and stroke. In most baking recipes, you can reduce the saturated fat (butter, shortening, oil) by half without compromising your dessert. If a recipe calls for 1 cup of butter, try ½ cup instead. You can replace the remaining ½ cup with an alternative ingredient to ensure your dessert has the same texture. Some replacements can be fat-free sour cream, low-fat buttermilk, orange juice, low-fat yogurt, applesauce, or low-fat cream cheese.

Use Light Products Substituting lower-fat and lower-sugar ingredients in your baking recipes can make them healthier and lower in calories. You can substitute sour cream with low-fat sour cream, light cream cheese for regular, and low-sugar jams and jellies for the regular brand. Other quick substitutes include light whipped cream and fat-free half-and-half.

Other Tips to Keep You on the Track to Healthy Eating

Control your portions A small adjustment in portion size can help you avoid overeating. One way to control your portions by putting food on individual plates instead of putting large serving dishes on your table. Try eating snacks in a small container instead of the original package. You can also replace candy dishes with bowls of fruit or vegetables.

Cut down on overeating and snacking Making a point to be mindful of what and when you are eating can help you avoid overeating and excessive snacking. Snacks are plentiful and can be consumed in larger quantities because their small size is often overlooked. For example: chocolate kisses (22 calories each), peppermint bark candies (66 calories each), toffee (67 calories), fudge (70 calories on square), and sugar cookies (113 calories each plain). Prepare healthy snacks in advance so they are available if you feel hungry between meals. Move the healthier food to the front at eye level. Store tempting foods, like cookies, chips, or ice cream, out of direct eyesight.

Don’t have dessert at every dinner Try to split a dessert with a family member or friend or avoid having a dessert at every meal. Check out these healthy eating tips and resources to create a holiday eating plan.

Remember your mental health During this holiday time, don’t forget about your mental health! The holidays can be a stressful time, which can contribute to overeating. Be sure to stay aware of your stress levels, and check out these resources for good mental health and ways to reduce stress during the holidays!

Nutrition Tips That Outperform Exercise for a Healthier You

Nutrition Tips That Outperform Exercise for a Healthier You

When it comes to achieving and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, diet and exercise often take center stage. While both play crucial roles, there's a common saying that "you can't out-exercise a bad diet." Indeed, nutrition is the foundation of our health and can have a more significant impact on our well-being than exercise alone. In this blog post, we'll explore nutrition tips that can outwork exercise when it comes to improving your overall health and well-being.

Start with a Balanced Diet

A balanced diet is one that provides your body with all the essential nutrients it needs to function optimally. A mix of carbohydrates, proteins, healthy fats, vitamins, and minerals is vital. Instead of focusing on strict diets or calorie counting, aim to consume a variety of nutrient-rich foods in their natural state. These include fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, whole grains, and nuts.

Prioritize Portion Control

It's not just what you eat but also how much you eat. Overeating, even healthy foods, can lead to weight gain and associated health issues. By practicing portion control, you can maintain a healthy weight and reduce the risk of conditions like obesity and diabetes. Pay attention to your body's hunger cues and eat mindfully.

Reduce Processed Foods and Sugars

Processed foods are often loaded with excess sugars, unhealthy fats, and empty calories. Reducing your intake of these items can have a dramatic impact on your health. Opt for whole, unprocessed foods instead. This includes fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins. By limiting your sugar intake, you can also lower the risk of developing conditions like diabetes and heart disease.

Hydration is Key

Proper hydration is essential for overall health. Water plays a vital role in digestion, circulation, and temperature regulation. It can also help control appetite and reduce the chances of overeating. Drinking an adequate amount of water daily is a simple yet effective way to support your health and well-being.

Include Fiber in Your Diet

Fiber is an often overlooked but incredibly important part of your diet. It aids in digestion, helps regulate blood sugar levels, and promotes a feeling of fullness, reducing the chances of overeating. Foods high in fiber, such as whole grains, legumes, fruits, and vegetables, should be a regular part of your diet.

Pay Attention to Macronutrients

Proteins, fats, and carbohydrates are the three primary macronutrients your body needs. Finding the right balance that works for you can have a significant impact on your health. For instance, opting for healthy fats like avocados and nuts, lean proteins like chicken and fish, and complex carbohydrates like quinoa and brown rice can provide the necessary nutrients for energy and overall health.

Quality Over Quantity

When it comes to nutrition, the quality of the food you consume is often more important than the quantity. Choose whole, nutrient-dense foods that provide the vitamins and minerals your body needs. These foods can boost your energy levels, enhance your mood, and support your overall health.

While exercise is undoubtedly important for a healthy lifestyle, the impact of nutrition on your overall well-being is equally significant, if not more so. By following these nutrition tips, you can outperform exercise in your journey to a healthier you. Remember that a balanced diet, portion control, and the right food choices are the keys to long-lasting health and vitality. It's not about choosing between nutrition and exercise but rather finding the right synergy between the two for the best results.

Tricks to avoid weight gain from Halloween treats

Tricks to avoid weight gain from Halloween treats

Don’t get tricked by Halloween treats – learn more about how to avoid holiday weight gain.

Most people think of the time between Thanksgiving and New Year’s as the time for holiday weight gain. However, weight gain can actually start creeping in by Halloween. By September most stores start filling the aisles with Halloween candy, only to replace it with more candy and treats to usher in the holiday season. The National Institutes of Health reports that the average weight gain during the holiday season is only about a pound or two, but since most people don’t lose the holiday weight over the following year those pounds accumulate over time and can lead to health problems like obesity, heart disease or Type II diabetes.

Here are some strategies for a healthier Halloween:

1. Give out something other than candy

Some options include wax fangs, temporary tattoos, pencils, stickers, plastic spider rings, noise makers or crayons. You might be surprised that kids enjoy toys as much as or more than candy.

2. Don’t purchase candy until a day or two before Halloween

Just because the stores sell it in September doesn’t mean you have to buy it. Having candy around a month or more before the holiday can break even the strongest of wills. Waiting to purchase candy until right before the big day will keep temptation out of the house, and since most candy goes on sale the week of or few days leading up to Halloween you will most likely save some money as well.

3. Have a plan for leftover candy

Sometimes it’s not about the candy that’s around before Halloween, it’s about the candy that keeps lingering well into November and beyond. Think about donating leftover candy to a shelter, food pantry or faith-based organization.

4. Avoid “saving” your children from their candy

Many parents and caregivers feel the need to eat their children’s candy in an effort to keep the children from eating it. This may be helpful to the children, but not to you and your health. Have a conversation with children prior to Halloween about what is an appropriate amount of candy to have each day and how long to keep candy around. Setting guidelines with children ahead of time helps them feel like they are a part of the decision. Then stick to the plan.

By avoiding the small weight gain over the holidays it may be possible to avoid overweight and obesity in the long-term, as well as the health risks associated with obesity. Having a plan in place to handle Halloween candy is one step to starting the holiday season on a healthy note. Looking for more strategies for healthy eating? Contact me to get started 251-949-2220

The Science Behind Human Growth Hormone (HGH): Myths and Realities

The Science Behind Human Growth Hormone (HGH): Myths and Realities

Human Growth Hormone, commonly known as HGH, has captured the attention of health enthusiasts, athletes, and even the beauty industry for its potential to enhance growth, build muscle, and improve overall vitality. However, like any topic in the health and wellness realm, there's a lot of misinformation and hype surrounding HGH. In this blog post, we will delve into the science behind HGH, its functions in the body, its potential benefits, and the myths you should be aware of.

Understanding HGH: The Basics

HGH is a naturally occurring hormone produced by the pituitary gland located in the brain. Its primary role is to stimulate growth and cell reproduction in humans. HGH secretion is at its peak during childhood and adolescence, contributing to the growth spurts experienced during these periods. However, it doesn't stop there. Throughout adulthood, HGH continues to play a crucial role in maintaining healthy body composition, muscle mass, and bone density.

Functions of HGH

Growth and Development: During childhood and adolescence, HGH plays a pivotal role in regulating bone and tissue growth. Deficiencies in HGH during this period can lead to growth disorders like dwarfism.

Metabolism: HGH helps regulate metabolism by promoting the breakdown of fats and stimulating the conversion of these fats into energy. This function has led to its association with weight loss and improved body composition.

Muscle Growth: HGH aids in muscle protein synthesis, which is essential for muscle growth and repair. This has led to its use in the sports and fitness industry as a potential performance-enhancing substance.

Bone Health: HGH contributes to bone mineralization and density. As we age, declining HGH levels can contribute to decreased bone strength and an increased risk of fractures.

Anti-Aging Effects: Some studies have suggested that HGH might have anti-aging effects due to its role in maintaining tissue and organ health. However, the extent of these effects is still under investigation.

HGH Myths and Realities

Myth: HGH is a Fountain of Youth: While HGH has been associated with anti-aging effects, it's not a magical solution to reverse aging. Its effects on aging are complex and still not fully understood.

Myth: Injectable HGH Is Safe and Effective for Everyone: Injectable HGH is often used illegally or without proper medical supervision, leading to potential risks. It should only be used under the guidance of a qualified healthcare professional and for specific medical conditions.

Reality: HGH Deficiency: Some individuals do experience HGH deficiency, which can lead to growth issues and other health concerns. In such cases, HGH therapy prescribed by a doctor can be beneficial.

Reality: Ethical Considerations in Sports: While HGH might be appealing to athletes for its potential muscle-building effects, its use for performance enhancement is considered unethical and is banned by many sports organizations.

Human Growth Hormone plays a vital role in growth, metabolism, and overall health throughout a person's life. It's not a magical solution for eternal youth or a shortcut to fitness gains. Understanding the science behind HGH is essential for separating fact from fiction. If you suspect an HGH deficiency or are interested in its potential benefits, it's crucial to consult a medical professional to ensure safe and responsible usage. As with any health-related topic, informed decisions and guidance from experts are the keys to optimizing your well-being.

Understanding the Keto Diet: Health Impacts, Guidelines, and Recipes

https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1r7Ds0P4_N3Jb-ajLDxuTWMtctKIWCdKC
With its promise of rapid weight loss and improved energy levels, the ketogenic or "keto" diet has attracted substantial attention in recent years. Despite the hype, many are still left wondering what the keto diet really is, how it impacts health, and how to properly follow it. In this post, we delve into the keto diet, its pros and cons, and share some delicious keto-friendly recipes.

**Understanding the Keto Diet: What It Is and How It Works**

The ketogenic diet is a high-fat, moderate-protein, and very low-carb diet. It typically involves consuming 70-75% of your calories from fat, 20% from protein, and only 5-10% from carbohydrates. The goal is to push your body into a metabolic state called "ketosis," where it uses fat, rather than glucose from carbs, as its primary source of energy. This is achieved by drastically reducing your carbohydrate intake and significantly increasing your fat intake.

**Health Impacts: Pros and Cons, and the Latest Scientific Findings**

The keto diet has been linked with several potential health benefits and drawbacks. On the positive side, it may lead to quick weight loss, improved blood sugar control, and reduced insulin levels, which can be beneficial for those with obesity, type 2 diabetes, or prediabetes. However, it's important to note that while the initial rapid weight loss often seen with a keto diet is primarily due to water loss.

On the downside, the keto diet can cause side effects, known as the "keto flu", which may include headache, fatigue, and nausea, especially in the early stages. There are also concerns about nutrient deficiencies due to the elimination of certain food groups and the long-term impact on heart health due to high saturated fat intake.

Latest scientific findings are mixed. Some studies suggest the diet can be safe and effective for short-term weight loss, while others warn of increased heart disease risk and other health issues over the long term. As research continues, it's vital to consult with a healthcare provider or a nutritionist before starting a ketogenic diet.

**How to Follow a Keto Diet: Guidelines, Tips, and Common Pitfalls to Avoid**

When following a keto diet, the key is to drastically reduce carbohydrate intake. This means avoiding high-carb foods like grains, sugary foods, and most fruits. Instead, you should focus on eating foods high in healthy fats, such as avocados, olive oil, and fatty fish, as well as moderate amounts of protein.

Staying hydrated and getting enough electrolytes is also important to help prevent side effects associated with the keto flu. Moreover, even though fat will be your main calorie source, it's still important to focus on the quality of fats, prioritizing monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats over saturated fats where possible.

A common pitfall to avoid is neglecting fiber intake. While many high-fiber foods are also high in carbs and therefore limited on a keto diet, there are still plenty of low-carb, high-fiber foods you can eat, such as leafy greens, nuts, and seeds.

**Delicious Keto Recipes: A Few Simple, Tasty Keto-Friendly Recipes**

1. **Keto Avocado Spinach Smoothie:**
Blend together one ripe avocado, a handful of spinach, one cup of unsweetened almond milk, and a few ice cubes. Add a low-carb sweetener if desired.

2. **Almond Crusted Salmon:**
Coat salmon fillets in a mixture of crushed almonds, garlic powder, and olive oil. Bake until salmon is cooked through.

3. **Cauliflower "Mac" and Cheese:**
Cook cauliflower florets until tender, then mix with cream, cheddar cheese, and your choice of seasonings. Bake until golden and bubbly.

In conclusion, while the keto diet offers potential benefits, it also comes with potential risks and should not be started without proper guidance. Always consult with a healthcare provider or a nutritionist before making any major changes to your diet. Happy eating!

Erectile Dysfunction and the Benefits of a Plant-Based Diet

Erectile Dysfunction and the benefits of a plant-based diet
In the heart of nature, there are secrets to better health, vitality, and, believe it or not, improved sexual function.
Today, we'll explore the link between a plant-based diet and erectile dysfunction, an issue affecting millions of men worldwide.
First, let's understand what a plant-based diet is. It's a diet consisting primarily of foods derived from plants, including vegetables, grains, nuts, seeds, legumes, and fruits, with few or no animal products."
How does this connect with erectile dysfunction? The key lies within our circulatory system. You see, erectile dysfunction is often a symptom of poor vascular health. When blood flow to the penis is restricted, it results in difficulty maintaining an erection.
Dietary choices high in fats, particularly saturated and trans fats found in many animal products, can lead to plaque buildup in our arteries, restricting blood flow.
However, a plant-based diet is rich in fiber, antioxidants, and other phytochemicals, which are known to promote heart health and good circulation.
Research has found that individuals following a plant-based diet can experience a lower risk of heart disease, high blood pressure, and yes, erectile dysfunction.
So, can switching to a plant-based diet cure erectile dysfunction? It's not an overnight miracle, but it's a step in the right direction. Combined with regular exercise and proper medical advice, it can lead to significant improvements.
The secrets of nature could help you restore your vitality and confidence. It's never too late to start making healthier choices.
Remember, the aim of this video is to inform and encourage a healthier lifestyle. It should not replace professional medical advice. Anyone experiencing erectile dysfunction or considering a significant dietary change should consult with a healthcare professional.

Fueling Your Body For Optimal Health

We want to switch our mindset to seeing food as fuel. What practices or changes should we adopt?

The first step is to simply bring awareness to WHY you are reaching for food. “Am I actually hungry?” “Why am I reaching for food?”  Are two of the most powerful questions when it comes to changing your relationship with food.

The food you fuel yourself with is EVERYTHING. From your energy, your mood, your skin, to your personality, all of it starts with what is on the end of your fork. You get to choose how good you feel, and learning which foods work for your unique body is essential for optimal performance in every area of life. Honor where you are, and start to tune in. The best fuel for you may not be the same as your best friend’s or your mom. What I help my clients figure out as quickly as possible is what is right for their unique bodies.

There are so many foods commonly deemed as “healthy” that can actually drain your energy, make you hold onto weight, and bring your body down. Many foods also have addictive properties like sugar and carbs that can bring about self-destructive eating habits. One of the best ways to break free from these foods is through mindfulness practice, http://elimination, and reintroduction protocols. This is what I work on with my clients one-on-one, and it leads to massive transformations in their health and relationships with food.

There are so many foods commonly deemed as “healthy” that can actually drain your energy, make you hold onto weight, and bring your body down.

What nutrients should I be sure to get every single day?

Focus on balancing your plate with fiber, healthy fat, and protein. You can get your fiber from lots of vegetables; protein from sources like sustainably raised meats, organic eggs, nuts, and seeds; and healthy fats from sources like avocado oil, olives, and coconut oil.

Greens, greens, greens! If you have difficulty getting your veggies in throughout the day with a busy schedule or without time for meal prep, you can get a powdered organic green supplement to add to a protein shake or water in the mornings.

On days I don’t work out, what foods should I avoid?

Regardless of working out or not, you should avoid highly-refined carbs and liquid sugars. (That would include muffins, breakfast cereal, bread, fruit juices, fruit smoothies, sodas, etc.).

On days you don’t work out, be more mindful of carb intake and be mindful to pair carbs with additional fiber from vegetables and protein to help keep blood sugar balanced.

Another tip is to honor your true hunger. On days you don’t work out, you probably don’t need to eat as much because you aren’t burning as much energy. So listen to your body and tune into your true hunger signals vs. emotional eating or head hunger.

Sometimes on days we don’t work out, we may feel more lethargic or stressed, which can both be triggers for wanting to reach for food. Notice these tendencies and ask “Am I actually hungry?” Drink plenty of water and fuel yourself with more delicious fibrous vegetables, clean protein sources, and healthy fats. If you can, get movement in throughout the day even if you don’t have a dedicated “workout.”

The Importance of Reading Food Labels

The Importance of Reading Food Labels

It shows you some key nutrients that impact your health. You can use the label to support your personal dietary needs – look for foods that contain more of the nutrients you want to get more of and less of the nutrients you may want to limit. Nutrients to get less of: Saturated Fat, Sodium, and Added Sugars.

Aiming for a healthy diet isn't just about cutting down on calories or limiting your food intake. A very essential step towards a healthy diet and lifestyle also includes paying attention to the food labels before you pick up anything from the grocery store. It is important to know where your food comes from and what it contains. The labels on packaged foods give you all the information on nutrition contents that the foods have, which also makes it easier for you to compare between different brands before you buy them. Additionally, there are some really amazing benefits of reading food labels.

Food labels provide information that's vital for your diet.

The two key things that food labels offer in terms of information include ingredients as well as the nutrition content. The latter gives well-defined segregation of what amounts of calories, total fats, saturated fats, carbohydrates, proteins, and vitamins the food contains. This information is extremely crucial when you're planning to make some dietary changes with some additions and restrictions to your daily diet. It also helps you reject certain food items if you have an intolerance or allergy towards certain ingredients, such as dairy, nuts, etc.

It helps you plan your diet well if you are suffering from chronic conditions.

With increasing cases of hypertension, diabetes, and other cardiovascular diseases, it's imperative to cut back on your salt and sugar intake. Reading labels while buying packaged foods helps you effortlessly cut back on these components without fail so that your health never has to suffer. Keep a watch on the 'total carbs' content as carbohydrates to ultimately turn into sugar during the digestion process.

Now that you know some of the key reasons you should be reading labels on packaged foods before adding them to your cart, make sure you do that on your next visit to the grocery store.
