Three Reasons to Go Easy on Gluten

Gluten has been the topic of hot debate by a growing number of healthcare providers.

The literature is overflowing with the detrimental impact gluten has on the intestinal wall.

When you eat gluten, your body produces a molecule called zonulin. The increase in zonulin is linked to increased intestinal permeability aka: leaky gut.

Leaky gut can create a cascade of damaging health issues including autoimmune disease and many inflammatory diseases.

Three Reasons to Go Easy on Gluten

Although today's article is not intended to do a deep dive into leaky gut syndrome, my objective is to present three additional reasons to avoid gluten.

1: Most of the wheat (gluten) eaten today is termed dwarf wheat and contains amylopectin A. This is a super starch worse than sugar. Of special interest, amylopectin A is a trigger of small LDL particles. When wheat is removed from the diet, these small LDL levels reduce by 90 per cent. Amylopectin digestion may raise blood sugar and insulin levels, causing an increase in triglycerides and cholesterol and leading to fat accumulation

2: Most wheat has been sprayed with the weed killer, glysophate. There is growing evidence linking glyphosate to cancer, endocrine disruption, fertility and reproductive concerns, kidney disease, heart disease, liver disease, microbiome disruption and neurotoxicity.

3: Most wheat contains a preservative called calcium propionate which has been linked to mood, behavior and attention problems.

Comments:

Although the thought of going gluten-free can be challenging I would simply say that the health benefits of avoiding gluten is worth it.

A viable option is Himalayan Tartary Buckwheat. The unique composition of Tartary buckwheat contributes to its various health benefits such as anti-oxidative, anti-cancer, anti-hypertension, anti-diabetic, cholesterol-lowering, and cognition-improving.

Personal Growth...

Over the past 6 weeks of being back in school, I have learned more than I ever have in my life.
I'm 41 back in school, the beauty is... you are never too old!

Everyone keeps asking me how I fit everything in; studying, writing, researching, training, contest prep, personal training, social media marketing, etc.  DISCIPLINE and TIME MANAGEMENT.

The two go hand in hand and one helps me focus on the other. You have to prioritize your life and focus on what you want to accomplish. In order for me to give school 100%, I had to remove myself from countless hours on Facebook and Instagram. Instead, I treat it like a business and schedule my post out.

Also, we decided to travel less over the next two years while I'm in school and really enjoy being at home. It's really hard to keep up with my studies and contest prep if we are constantly leaving the house. I feel I'm definitely in a new season and ready to settle down for the first time. My home has become better than any vacation. Create the life you want.

I am 11 weeks out until the next show and I am already taking midterm exams and currently writing 2 thesis papers which are due in April.

If you have a goal in mind, make it happen! Do what it takes to get it done. You only live once, so make the best of it. Every morning you should wake up excited to take one step closer to reaching your dreams. If you aren't excited, it's time to make a change. Don't look back 5 years from now and wish you would have made the changes then. Today is the day. I was listening to a podcast the other morning while training and they really focused in on living for now. What if today was your last day on earth, are you living your dream or someone else's?

I promise to give you a book recommendation weekly. One that I listened to recently on Audible, "You Can't Hurt Me" by David Goggins. This man is truly my hero and I was sad when the book came to an end. This was recommended to me over Christmas and it's a best seller now. I am a self-motivator but sometimes it's good to hear it from someone else.
If you find you don't have time to read, listen on Audible when you working out, driving, cooking, etc
Again we make time for the things we really want to do, never stop learning!

If you missed my post about Gluten Free last week on my blog for Life Wellness Forever, here is the link...  Life Wellness Forever Blog

I was astounded at the response and how many people actually have symptoms of gluten intolerance. I'm thrilled to be able to help others achieve a better quality of life through my education.

I hope everyone has a great Sunday and I look forward to seeing you next week. If you love what you are reading please share on social media and spread the word! Happy Mardi Gras.

Love
XOXO,
Cindy Lane Ross

9 Weeks until OCB Battle On The Beach!

9 WEEKS until OCB BATTLE ON THE BEACH!

What a week... meal plan changed, workouts increased, and balancing work!

Every day waking up at 3am to get my day started has me exhausted by Thursday. Happy to say I slept 10 hours Friday night :) I am definitely craving more sleep these days.

My jewelry arrived for the show this week from All That Glitters Gems, can't wait to wear it on stage.

Christian, my coach, has me wearing a waist cincher pretty much from here out unless I'm sleeping. Really love them, ordered from Angel Curves. I bought 2 actually, one with a bit more flexibility for the gym and one during the day which is a bit tighter.

Angel Curves-Waist Trimmer

I think one of the biggest challenges is the meal prep, thankful I work from home, but the days I have errands and meetings requires more prep work to make sure I eat enough food and on time.

Loving you G Hughes... you make my days brighter!

Special occasions eating out has me pleading with the servers around Orange Beach, no butter, no seasoning, no nothing...lol

Celebrating my good friend Jim's Birthday today.

I am definitely getting stronger and more comfortable with agility type of exercises. Jumping lunges, used to hate, now has become one of my favorites.

Started a fat burner stack this week, all natural of course! I love the energy it gives me, definitely in the afternoon.

Stricter meal plan, more workouts, waist cinchers, and fat burners... check!!!

Bought a Stairmaster Stepper this week for my home gym, LOVE!

Here is my check-in... weight isn't budging much yet, but definitely looking leaner. :)

Top Pics 8/12/18 - Bottom Pics today 8/19/18

Hope you guys have a great week and I will touch base again soon! xoxo

Almond Encrusted Yellow Tail Fish

I went to Market on the Hill Thursday and got some fresh Yellow tail Snapper-YUMMY!
I paired the fish with smashed sweet potatoes and pan seared brussel sprouts :)

ALMOND ENCRUSTED YELLOW TAIL
Ingredients:
2 servings
3  8 oz. yellow tail snapper fillets
1/4 tsp. sea salt & pepper
1 lemon juiced
1 c. almond flour
1 egg
1/2 c. almond milk
1 c. chopped sliced almonds
4 tsp. canola
3 tsp. Smart Balance butter spread
1/4 c. dry white wine
Directions:
1. Season yellow tail fillets with salt, pepper and lemon juice, then dredge in almond milk, almond flour and egg wash.
2. Coat fillets in chopped almonds. Pat the almonds on the fish to secure.
3. Saute in canola oil over medium heat, taking care not to burn almonds, until nicely browned. Remove fillets and de-glaze pan with splash of white wine.
4. Add a squeeze of lemon and melt butter in pan juices.
5. Drizzle over fish and garnish with lemon slices and parsley.

Grilled Cobia

I finally went deep sea fishing and we caught a Cobia, also known as Lemonfish
This is a very mild fish and can be prepared many ways. They say it's one of the best tasting fishes, I would have to agree. The pork chop of the sea. One thing I am learning is not to overdue the spices which would block out the fish taste. This recipe has good flavor, yet you can savor the fish itself.

Paired with Raw Zucchini, Garlic Cabbage, & left over Couscous

Ingredients:
4-5 medium fillets Cobia
1/3 cup olive oil
1/3 cup lemon juice
2 teaspoons dry mustard powder
1 clove minced garlic
1 teaspoon celery seed
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
1 1/2 cup of white wine
Mix all ingredients in a freezer ziploc bag and place in refridgerator

Directions:
1. Mix all ingredients in a freezer ziploc bag and place in refridgerator
2. Marinate for an hour
3. Grill on Medium Heat either using outside grill or grill plate
4. Turning several times, and baste with extra marinade at each turn.
Don't over cook. Super easy recipe
